2 KW HF power amplifier
Above you can see the homebrew power amplifier for bands 10 to 20 meters, WARC included.
This is an old project of several years ago the which I stopped due to job opportunities.
Only in 2011 I decided to finish updating it on electrical, security and appearance design.
The power amplifier uses a 8877 (3CX1500A7) ceramic tube powered at 3700 V.
The configuration is the classic grounded grid cathode driven and the cathode is biased at 12 V by the use of a power zener diode.
The pigreco matching has a low Q useful to operate on the band without continuous tuning.
Also the band change is relatively easy and quick to tune.
Mesured power is 2000 W with a driving power of 80 W.
The power amplifier is composed of two desktop units (RF unit + PS unit) with a third under desk unit containing only the high voltage transformer.
Finally I reached my goal to finish the work and I am happy for the expected results.
